maddenhawks12The algorithms are picking the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl. But if history repeats itself, Seahawks fans shouldn’t worry too much.

For starters, EA Sports’ Madden 15 simulated Sunday’s Super Bowl matchup and had the Pats coming back to beat the Seahawks, 28-24. In the simulation, the Hawks had a 24-14 lead in the third quarter but couldn’t hold on.

With the graphics so clear and more realistic than ever, watching the simulation recap is pretty awesome:

But while EA Sports has correctly predicted eight of the last 11 Super Bowl winners, let’s all remember what happened last year. Madden picked Denver to beat Seattle, 28-26, in overtime. That, of course, was a terrible prediction.

bingsuperbowl121Then there’s Bing. Microsoft’s search engine has been predicting the outcomes of NFL games this season at about a 66 percent success rate. However, on Dec. 17, Bing said the Seahawks would lose in the playoffs and not even make it to the Super Bowl. We know how that turned out.

Back then, Bing also picked the Patriots to win it all — a prediction that could still be true. And currently, Bing thinks New England has a 51.5 percent chance of beating Seattle.

So, Seahawks fans, the robots aren’t giving your team much hope. But based on their track record for the past few years, you shouldn’t take the computers too seriously.
