The Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) has been working on an intelligent search engine for the past two years. Called Semantic Scholar, the program helps researchers and academics sort through tens of millions of computer science and biomedical research articles.

Now the organization wants to take the program to the next level and expand the search to all of academia — and it’s hiring a new director to do just that.

The director will report directly to AI2 CEO Oren Etzioni, and be responsible for the product vision, engineering roadmap, and organizational culture needed to drive Semantic Scholar.

They will also work with engineering leaders to produce excellent software and keep the Semantic Scholar team focused by prioritizing initiatives and constantly evaluating new initiatives and existing features.
