Overview

The Application Architect designs, develops, documents and analyzes overall architecture of software systems. This position determines integrated, layered application architecture solutions that meet functional, performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs. Coordinates design and integration of total system including subsystems. Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrated skill in building, from scratch, layered and flexible application architecture for market ready products. Ability to meld multiple application architectures into a cohesive whole utilizing underling IaaS/PaaS providers.  Capable of mapping layered application architecture to existing full java stack constructs, leveraging java (J2EE) stack constructs and frontend JavaScript technologies.
Ability to think around corners and solve complex problems in a meaningful and realistic way.
Key contributor on complex projects/initiatives. Impacts current and future business opportunities through application of specialized technical/ industry knowledge. Develops methods/techniques based on strategic project objectives.
Mentors and provides technical guidance and explains advanced concepts to others in work area. May mentor others in department. Coordinates across multiple departments. Promotes active listening and open communication. Provides leadership/guidance to others.
This position is included, and expected to participate, in a rotating schedule of on-call participants to ensure that the after-hours needs of the company are met in a reliable manner.

Who You Are:

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience in a related area
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience supporting development teams
Enjoys the art of persuasion
Background in Java and JavaScript
7-10 years of hands on software development experience (not QA/testing), preferably in an enterprise application development environment shipping product to the market
3+ years of architecting scalable and flexible software solutions
