Animated filmmakers figured out a while ago that the best way to get kids in theater seats is to create content that appeals to their parents, too. Disney’s “Ralph Breaks the Internet” looks like it will fit that bill for adult geeks if the new trailer is any indication.

Six years after “Wreck it Ralph,” the video-game bad guy (voiced by John C. Reilly) returns with best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman). When her game “Sugar Rush” crashes, Vanellope and Ralph head into the internet in search of a new part.

Their introduction to an online world will look very familiar to those of us who have lived there for years.

  • Ralph meets pop-up ads: “Get rid of belly fat using this one weird trick!” … “Sassy housewives want to meet you!” … “They do?” Ralph asks.
  • “Who knew there were so many babies and cats in the world?” Ralph says after Vanellope declares her love for the web: “I want this to be my life.”
  • Ralph takes an elevator and descends into the “dark net.” Signs advertise “New credit cards daily!” and “Viruses plus!”

“Ralph Breaks the Internet” opens in theaters Nov. 21.
