Get ready for a major upgrade to one of Seattle’s favorite tech traditions.
GeekWire is turning 5 years old next month, and to celebrate, we’re bringing back our annual ping-pong and foosball tournaments as part of the GeekWire Bash, presented by Point Inside, March 24 at the CenturyLink Field Event Center. It’s a much larger venue that will accommodate many more activities, including video games and, yes, even dodgeball. (More on that below.)
In addition, we’re adding a beginners’ ping-pong tournament, joining the longstanding expert and intermediate brackets; and we’re expanding the foosball tournament for the first time to include intermediate bracket, as well.
Spots are available right now in all brackets of the ping pong and foosball tournaments. But even with the expansion, space is limited, and tickets to participate in the tournaments are selling out fast. We’re encouraging companies to enter their top competitors and teams in the event. (Many startups and larger tech companies hold internal contests to determine which players to send.)
You can sign up by purchasing a tournament ticket here or below.
The registration deadline is March 1 for the pong-pong and foosball tournaments, but we’ll likely sell out the tournament slots before that date.
While ping pong and foosball will be back in full force this year, we’re also adding a lot of other fun and geeky activities, including a classic video game arcade, beer pong, basketball games of G-E-E-K and much more. We’ll have some fun celebrity additions, great food and other exciting activities. Group rates are available on the registration site, and we’ll once again hand out a “spirit prize” to the company that shows the most team spirit at this year’s event.
And here’s a fun team activity for your company, a new addition this year, sponsored by CenturyLink: Sign up an 8-person dodgeball team using the dodgeball ticket type below. We have room for just 16 dodgeball teams in this event, so grab your friends and colleagues and join in the fun. You must sign up as a group to participate in dodgeball.
A couple reminders: All tournament and competition tickets include full admission to the event. And GeekWire Gold, Super and Galactic members automatically receive admission to the full event as part of their annual memberships. If you’re a member who wants to compete in the ping-pong or foosball tournaments, please contact membership coordinator Cara Kuhlman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
