T-Mobile logoPeople who use T-Mobile’s prepaid Simple Choice plans now get access to the company’s Data Stash feature, which lets them roll over any data that they don’t use in a given month. Starting on March 22, T-Mobile will begin rolling the feature out to prepaid voice customers.

Those people will get up to 10 GB of data in a “Starter Stash” that they can dip into whenever they go over their plan-appointed data limit for the month. Once that stash is depleted, they’ll start filling it up again by rolling forward any data they didn’t use in previous months for up to a year. The new feature was announced at the Bellevue-based company’s last “Un-carrier” event, but it only applied to postpaid customers at the time.

In a blog post, T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Sherrard also took a shot at the company’s competition, saying that AT&T and Verizon are “running away” from the feature. He dismissed AT&T’s Data Rollover plan, saying that its one-month rollover period isn’t a real contender with T-Mobile’s offering.

“AT&T’s Data Rollover means they wait an extra 30 days to repossess your data,” Sherrard wrote. “That is not a serious response − no matter how many billions they spend on TV ads about it.”

The announcement comes two days ahead of T-Mobile’s next “Un-carrier” event in New York. It’s not clear what the company has up its sleeve yet, but it’s supposed to be a “piece of work.”
