Big money was flowing in the tech sector in 2014, as evidenced by these blockbuster deals. According to Statista, the top 10 venture-backed exits brought in nearly $50 billion through IPOs and M&A deals.
Facebook’s whopping $22 billion acquisition of communications service WhatsApp led the charge, followed by the IPO of Lending Club. Seattle-based Juno Therapeutics, a biotechnology company backed by Arch Venture Partners, Jeff Bezos and others, also made the top 10 with a public offering that now values the company at $1.9 billion.
As we noted earlier this month, venture capitalists are not doing as many deals, but they are dishing out more dollars. That means we are seeing more blockbuster venture rounds, like the financing of pre-IPO companies like Uber, Redfin and DocuSign.
