Soccer. Suds. Sounders. It doesn’t get much better than this!
Yep, GeekWire Sounders Day is back!
Soccer geeks from across the Pacific Northwest will once again congregate on the amazing rooftop deck of EMC/Isilon for an epic tailgate party before the August 20th match against the San Jose Earthquakes.
That’s right. This year’s event is a bit of a nerd battle as we take on those soccer geeks from that tiny little tech hub down south. Let the trash-talking begin.
Tickets are now on sale for this fun event, which drew more than 400 people last year and included appearances by Sounders FC captain Brad Evans as well remarks by Sounders owner Adrian Hanauer. Some special guests will be back again this year as well as cool giveaways, so make sure to get your tickets before we sell out.
We’ve reserved a special block of seats at CenturyLink Field where the GeekWire faithful can chant, sing and cheer on our Sounders together during the match.
The first 50 people to sign up for seats in the GeekWire section will get a custom-designed soccer scarf, plus the chance to win other soccer-themed prizes. (Game tickets will be distributed at the tailgate party).
If you’re already a season ticket holder or just want to hang with us on the rooftop deck, you can join us for the pre-game festivities for either $7 (developers and engineers) or $12 (general admission).
The pre-game party will get rolling at 4 p.m on at EMC/Isilon (505 1st Avenue South) — a stone’s throw away from the stadium in Pioneer Square. After some cold beverages and BBQ, we’ll rally the troops around 6:30 p.m. for our own march to the match just before kickoff at 7 p.m.
Haven’t checked out a game yet? Or are a longtime supporter? This is your chance to see the action, surrounded by friends from the soccer-lovin’ tech community.
Note: If you purchase tickets to the match, we will have tickets waiting for you at EMC/Isilon on the afternoon of the event. Please pick them up at registration. Also, GeekWire Members receive free access to the pre-game tailgate party, but must purchase a ticket to the game if they’d like to sit in the special GeekWire section. Members should sign up under the $23 member rate. More information on becoming a GeekWire Member here.
