alltechlogoLet’s face it. Dealing with health care for your growing company can be a real pain, consuming valuable time that could be better spent coding, hacking or dreaming up that next great innovation.

Startups need to focus, if they want to be successful. And health care costs — not to mention complexities associated with various plans — can zap some of that entrepreneurial energy.

That’s why we’re so excited to announce a new partnership with Health Alliance for Technology (ALLtech) — making it easier for eligible technology companies in Washington state to get the health insurance coverage they need. It’s an innovative partnership, one designed to provide comprehensive and affordable health insurance to small and medium-sized technology companies.

ALLtech offers 20 medical plans from Moda Health, a health insurance company that’s been operating in the Pacific Northwest for 57 years. The program also includes dental plans from Delta Dental of Washington; vision plans from VSP; employee assistance plans from Magellan Health Services; and life/disability insurance from The Standard.

Designed specifically for the companies of GeekWire Members, those who join the program will receive:

  • Deeper discounts than you can find directly from insurance companies.
  • A choice of 20 medical plans and 5 dental plans.

In other words, together we can pool resources to help our members get a better deal. And that’s something that we at GeekWire, a startup ourselves, think is pretty sweet.

Ken Myer, a veteran technology executive who serves as trustee of ALLtech, said that great health insurance packages can be a “difference maker” as candidates weigh multiple job options.

“GeekWire has quickly become one of the key communities focused on serving the needs of fast growing tech companies with news, educational events, and business services,” said Myer. “ALLtech seemed a natural addition to their set of member offerings and we couldn’t be happier to be partnering with them.”

GeekWire Chief Business Officer Daniel Rossi added that the ALLtech partnership aligns with GeekWire’s mission of empowering, informing and convening the tech community. “We are always looking to provide our community with the resources they need to succeed, and the partnership with ALLtech is a natural fit with our mission and values,” he said.
