cooler12Most successful Kickstarter campaigns exceed funding goals by a couple hundred, or maybe even a thousand dollars. But what Ryan Grepper has accomplished is unprecedented.

The Portland inventor of the “Coolest Cooler” just set a new Kickstarter record for the most-funded campaign ever. The geeked-out cooler, which features a built-in bluetooth speaker, USB charger, blender, cutting board, and bottle opener, has raised more than $10.6 million and passed the Pebble watch as the most-funded Kickstarer project. The campaign still has three days remaining.

Grepper, who runs an online training program called Inventors Blueprint, actually fell $22,000 short of raising $125,000 for a similar cooler back in December. This time around he’s clearly done better, reeling in millions from more than 50,000 backers. What’s even more astonishing is the original funding goal of $50,000 — the cooler has eclipsed that by 21,110 percent.

We caught up with Grepper last week and he told us how he raised so much money for the cooler. Check out his responses here.
