ps4videoteaseLess than 24 hours before Microsoft reveals the new generation of Xbox, Sony has just posted a teaser video showing off aspects of the Playstation 4 console.

But if you were looking for high-def pictures of the new console, you’ll be disappointed. The 39-second clip shows a blurry black box and quick glimpses of the console itself — a tease, really. If you didn’t quite catch all the design aspects of the PS4, someone actually went through and posted video stills of the PS4 if the video just wasn’t enough.

Sony first unveiled its next-gen console back in February, but didn’t show off the actual console nor did it disclose a price tag.

The video ends with a “June 10th 2013 6:00 PM PDT” image, so we can likely expect to see the actual console on June 10 at Sony’s  E3 video game conference presentation.

Check back here on GeekWire tomorrow as we’ll be live from Redmond covering Microsoft’s unveiling of the new Xbox.

I predict the Xbox will lead the pack in terms of “next gen” features, especially with respect to convergence / ecosystem, while the PS4 will launch with a feature set that doesn’t go too far beyond what the current Xbox360 offers, but will exceed the new Xbox in raw specifications. By how much (or little) I’m curious to see tomorrow.

Having rejoined the ranks of x86 (and being again comparable apples to apples), that puts Sony in a good position, as Microsoft is likely to overthink and overestimate their audience’s desire for a thought-leader console. (ala Win8).
