Refreshed and ready to party, Nadia Daniel and Brendan Weitzman strolled into the Showbox at the Market in Seattle on Thursday night looking elegant and sharp. The pair had officially been rebooted in time for the GeekWire Gala.

Daniel, a video surveillance specialist with the Washington State Patrol, and Weitzman, manager of workplace technology for Moss Adams, were the winners of the Geek Style Reboot, a day of pampering and prep by Nordstrom ahead of GeekWire’s annual holiday party.

“I feel fabulous. I feel amazing in these clothes,” Daniel said after leaving Nordstrom. “I have been taken care of very well. The customer service was fantastic.”

Wearing a new outfit and a smile on his face, Weitzman called the Reboot a really unique experience.

“It’s definitely unlike anything I have had the privilege of being a part of before,” he said. “This has been awesome. I don’t normally take the time to treat myself.”

The day began with lunch at Nordstrom’s flagship store in downtown Seattle before the pair moved on to a personal styling session to select their outfits for the night.

Daniel was paired with stylist Marianne Hale, and a selection of dresses and gowns, jewelry, high heels and clutches were laid out in her dressing room. She tried on various gowns and posed in front of a mirror.

Her intention was to find something that said “holiday,” with a classy and sparkly look.

In the dressing room next door, where Weitzman worked with stylist Char Sullivan, he was asked by a styling employee if he wanted some champagne, and Daniel called from behind her closed door — “Can you come here with some champagne, too?”

As the two met in the area between dressing rooms, Daniel praised Weitzman’s look. He returned the compliment.

“I’ve got nothing on you. Holy cow!” he told her.

Asked how the day compared so far to a normal workday, where she monitors hundreds of surveillance cameras, Daniel said, “I’m drinking champagne at 1. It’s priceless.”

Weitzman said if he was at work he’d probably be slogging his way through help desk escalation tickets, and definitely not drinking champagne.

As he rejected a pair of black sneakers with white soles that he was not interested in trying to keep clean, Weitzman joked about his morning routine and how much time he spends putting himself together.

“Half the time I get up and don’t even know what I’m wearing until I’m at work,” he said.

Weitzman was looking for a pop of color to go with much of what he tried on. He asked for colorful pocket squares and tried on a variety of shirts and blazers with dark jeans. When he settled on a pair of shoes, he said he planned to sub out the black laces for something more fun.

Talked into trying on a golden, floor-length gown that she was leaning against getting, Daniel was genuinely going back and forth between it and what she thought was her settled choice. She walked out into the main store and asked a group of nearby Nordstrom shoppers and employees for their opinion.

“Oh, wow!” one of them said as she passed.

But it wasn’t enough to get Daniel to change her mind as she went with a silver and black dress by AllSaints.

Along the way the winners also visited the Nordstrom spa where they both had facials. Weitzman then got a haircut at Weldon Barber nearby and Daniel got a blowout at Swink Style Bar.

They returned to the Nordstrom Beauty department to get makeup professionally applied, and then headed back upstairs to get dressed for the night.

At the Showbox, Daniel and Weitzman showed off their looks in front of several hundred Gala attendees.

Nordstrom Senior VP of Technology Megan Kiester joined them on stage and then she helped two more winners get on their way to looking and feeling great when she presented $500 Nordstrom gift cards as part of a random drawing.
