It’s a big night for geeks and geeky TV on Thursday when Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates makes an appearance on “The Big Bang Theory.”

CBS tweeted a preview of what to expect when the billionaire philanthropist appears as himself on the long-running comedy. And in a behind-the-scenes interview, Gates and cast members discussed how much fun they all had.

“It’s fun to have a show where people are allowed to be a little nerdy and a little bit smart, so I can relate to it, so I was thrilled when I got the chance,” Gates said, adding that the cast “made it super easy. They’re total professionals, so it was a blast.”

“Bill was great,” said actor Johnny Galecki (Leonard). “Bill was adorable,” Kaley Cuoco (Penny) added. “He landed his jokes better than you have in 11 years.”

According to CBS, the episode titled “The Gates Excitation” will feature Penny getting the opportunity to host Gates at work when his company wants to partner with her pharmaceutical company.

Geeky guest stars are nothing new on “The Big Bang Theory,” GeekWire previously noted. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, entrepreneur Elon Musk, physicists Neal deGrasse Tyson and Steven Hawking, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak have all appeared on the show since its debut in 2007.

“The Big Bang Theory” airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBS and CBS All Access.
