RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser is putting his money where his mouth, or in this case, keyboard, is.
His Glaser Progress Foundation is donating $200,000 to a $500,000 Mother Jones project called “Trumpocracy: The Russia Connection,” with a mission of investigating ties between President Donald Trump and Russia. Glaser’s foundation will donate another $50,000 when fundraising is complete.
Last year, Glaser launched a news, analysis and opinion site called PutinTrump.org focused on ties between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“For the past year our democracy has been under attack by a murky alliance between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin,” Glaser said. “That’s why I created PutinTrump.org last summer, and it’s why the Glaser Progress Foundation is partnering with Mother Jones to ensure there are resources to fully investigate this issue. This story requires determination, data, and dollars, and there’s no media outlet on earth better positioned to take it on than Mother Jones.”
Glaser’s site, produced by veteran journalists led by Bill Buzenberg, a former vice president of news for NPR and one-time head of the Center for Public Integrity, will be folded into the new project. Buzenberg will also put together a weekly newsletter of important stories on the Trump-Russia issue.
