Seattle-based Code Fellows is facing a backlash over a transit ad that touted the financial benefits of software careers with the message, “You know who can afford a house in Seattle? SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS.”

The ad has been pulled by the coding academy, but not before touching a nerve in a city facing a large and growing housing affordability problem. The ad is sparking an intense debate on social media, and in the GeekWire offices.

In fact, the debate got so lively between the news and business teams that we decided to sit down and hash it out on a special edition of the GeekWire podcast, with reporters Monica Nickelsburg and Kurt Schlosser, chief business officer Daniel Rossi and editor/co-founder Todd Bishop.
