Forget the sponsor shoutouts and heads up about lunch. If you want to grab an audience at the start of a conference, hit ’em with a musical number!

Tune CEO Peter Hamilton has learned that lesson well, and once again leaned on his own vocal chops — and a stage full of supporting singers — to open the Seattle startup’s Postback 2017 event with a big production. This time the inspiration was “Moulin Rouge!” — but the message was still mobile marketing.

The mobile analytics and performance marketing software company started the event last year with Hamilton and company offering their take on the popular Broadway musical “Hamilton,” of course.

Peter Hamilton is a former opera singer, who actually moved to Seattle more than a decade ago to sing on the stage of McCaw Hall, where the Postback conference is taking place Thursday and Friday.

In a GeekWire podcast that will air this week, Hamilton will discuss how opera influenced his approach as a technology executive and the future of mobile marketing. Go here to subscribe to GeekWire podcasts.
