Grab’s Seattle engineering office is growing. The ride-hailing giant, which operates a wide range of smartphone-powered transportation services across 55 cities in Southeast Asia, is moving into a new space at Columbia Center with room for 60 employees.

Grab, formerly GrabTaxi, opened its original Seattle office, the company’s first in the U.S., in January 2016 and currently employs 25 people there. Raman Narayanan, a 23-year veteran of Microsoft who held the title of Distinguished Engineer at the Redmond tech giant, leads Grab’s Seattle operation.

Grab, which has raised $1.4 billion to date and counts 45 million users, is one of nearly 100 out-of-town tech companies that have established engineering centers in the Seattle region. Uber and Lyft, which operate similar businesses, also have engineering offices in town.
