Some of the most interesting technological innovations today stem from artificial intelligence and machine learning. Seattle’s Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2), founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, is working on some of those innovations, and the institute is seeking an applied research scientist to join one of its teams.

The scientist will work on AI2’s Semantic Scholar program, a smart search tool that helps scientists and other researchers sort through information in scholarly papers and articles.

The position will develop statistical models for information extraction and language understanding, and help integrate those models in production to power the semantic features in Semantic Scholar. Applicants should have expertise in computer programming and/or machine learning.

The position is a great opportunity to learn about cutting-edge applications of machine learning to complex problems, as well as pick up skills around search engine functionality and various scientific and medical fields. Learn more about the position and apply on GeekWork.
