We cover a lot of interesting and compelling technologies here at GeekWire, but none are quite as cool as the pioneering innovations coming out of Dr. Jim Olson’s lab. The researcher at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is using a molecule derived from scorpion venom to better identify cancer cells, making it easier for doctors to remove tumors through a technology known as “Tumor Paint.”

hutch-screen-shot-2016-11-04-at-8-39-23-amIt’s fascinating stuff, and that’s why we’re so excited for our next GeekWire podcast.

Dr. Olson will be our special guest Thursday, Nov. 10th for a live recording of our weekly podcast, taking place from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Pelton Auditorium on the Fred Hutch Campus in Seattle. (1100 Fairview Ave. N.) Tickets are free, but we have limited capacity, so if you’d like to join us make sure to register here today.

We’ve interviewed Dr. Olson and seen him speak in the past, and he’s got a fascinating perspective on how potential cancer cures can be derived from nature.

In addition to our interview with Dr. Olson, we will conduct our regular “Week in Geek” news segment, talk gadgets with Gear Live founder Andru Edwards and host a tech trivia contest with special prizes.

If you’ve ever wanted to get an inside look at how we produce GeekWire’s weekly podcast, this is your chance. Hope to see you on Nov. 10th!

Again, limited tickets are available here.
