It gives the phrase “money pit” a whole new meaning.

“Cards Against Humanity,” the renegade game company known for such charming Black Friday stunts as mailing people shit and collecting money in exchange for nothing, is at it again. This year the company is spreading holiday cheer by digging a deep, dark hole to match our souls.

Since Friday, Cards Against Humanity has raised $100,573 to fund the digging of “a tremendous hole in the earth.”

Tremendous. Where is this hole, you ask?

“America. And in our hearts,” says Cards Against Humanity.

The company will keep on digging on as long as people continue donating. Anyone interested in the progress of the hole can follow along with a YouTube livestream. Spoiler: It’s every bit as interesting you think it will be.

“You’re supposed to think it’s funny,” says the Holiday Hole website. “You might not get it for a while, but some time next year you’ll chuckle quietly to yourself and remember all this business about the hole.”

The folks at Cards Against Humanity took the time to answer some anticipated FAQs. Among them is the burning question, “what if you dig so deep you hit hot magma?”

“At least then we’d feel something,” the site says.

…and a Happy New Year!
