Emerald City Comicon is here. The Northwest’s premier comic book and pop culture convention is taking over the Washington State Convention Center April 7 – 10. After kicking off the festivities Thursday, the next three days will be filled with comics, movies, video games, cosplay, and more.

eccc-round-lowFeatured guests span the comic, entertainment and literary worlds. James & Oliver Phelps (aka the Weasley twins), Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Norman Reedus (Walking Dead), and Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) are among those in attendance. A wide variety of panels bring together fans with common interests and cover a wide range of skill sets from comic book publishing to zombie survival skills.

Although ECCC is officially sold out, fans near and far can still follow the action with ECCC Live! as well as on social media. Tickets are available through some secondary markets but beware of scalpers!

Fundamentals for Startups Fridays: Customers and Robotics

comotion-use-this-11-300x83What: The missiong of working sessions is to “provide our CoMotion Incubator Community and ELC Community with access to leading experts that can close the GAP in startup knowledge. These workshops will give startups, teams and students a chance to learn practical knowledge, as well as provide hands-on training, and networking opportunities with professionals in various branches of business.

The working sessions will have a topic and an area expert providing key insights and knowledge regarding the topic in a 20 minute lecture format. After the lecture, the attendees will break into working sessions to engage with the topic as it relates to them. Then we will have an ELC student presentation on a legal matter pertinent to startups. The Student will present for 25 to 35 min and then will work with the advising council to answer questions regarding that topic.

For both sessions, we will invite CoMotion mentors and EIRs as a resource to the attendees to help answer any questions and think through any problems they may be facing. All lecture portions will be video captured and livestreamed.
