We’re constantly seeking out innovations that might make air travel slightly more tolerable. The Airhook promises to hold a cup and device to free you from using the tray table and give you more legroom to boot.

The idea of Kirkland-based Craig Rabin, he’s taken the Airhook through 13 months and nine redesigns to come up with this version he’s now offering via Kickstarter. It works by attaching to the existing tray table in the upright position and can hold any device up to 7.5 inches tall plus a drink. You can adjust the viewing angle with a little knob on the right.

To date, the Airhook has more than 1,000 backers and raised over $41,000, well over its initial $15,000 goal, with 11 days to go. A pledge of $20 will get you an Airhook, which Rabin says will ship by December 2015.
