Prince, is there anything he can’t do? The No. 1 most mentioned item from last night’s Golden Globes was his surprise appearance and announcement for Best Original Song.

Of course, Common and John Legend won for the track “Glory,” featured in the film “Selma,” but we have to think it was the elusive Prince that put them over the top social-media wise.

Of course, Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen’s frozen anxiety face during the announcement, which quickly became this meme, helped, too:

Hey, at least she has a great sense of humor about it.

According to Mashable, the top moments on Twitter after the Prince/Teigen saga were Matt Bomer winning Best Supporting Actor in a Mini-Series for “The Normal Heart, ” and Billy Bob Thornton winning Best Actor in a Mini-Series for “Fargo.” Approximately 2.6 million tweets were spurred by the Globes, up 24 percent from last year’s 2.1 million.

In Facebook land, Prince/Teigen once again dominated taking the No. 1 spot. “Downton Abbey’s” Joanne Frogatt winning Best Supporting Actress and Amazon’s “Transparent” winning Best TV Comedy or Musical took No. 2 and 3, respectively.

Facebook traffic was also up. The social giant told Mashable that it had 17 million posts, comments and likes from 8 million people, as compared to last year’s 7.2 million interactions from 4.1 million people.

Check out Hollywood’s reaction (and that two-finger whistle via Louis C.K.) in the Prince announcement below:
