Cortana isn’t changing her prediction for the Super Bowl this weekend. She still gives the edge to the Patriots, based on her “current sources.” But Windows Phone users who ask Microsoft’s personal assistant, “Who will win the Super Bowl,” will now find a very different message than they did a couple weeks ago.

“My current sources say the Pats are favored to take the Lombardi Trophy home. But I expect the Hawks are gonna turn it up to 12,” she says, showing a Seahawks logo, but still giving the Patriots a 51.5% likelihood of winning.

Previously, Cortana had said in response to the same query, “It’s hard to say, but if I were a bettin’ AI, I wouldn’t put my money on the Seattle Seahawks right now.”

Cortana’s football picks are based on the Bing prediction engine, and while algorithms can’t bow to fan pressure, Microsoft’s shout-out to the hometown Seahawks should at least make things less awkward for members of the Windows team at their Super Bowl parties this weekend.
