We’ve been waiting for a long time to talk with this week’s guest! Joining us on the GeekWire radio show is “Alexa,” the voice and virtual personality of the Amazon Echo intelligent home speaker.

Yes, we brought the Echo into the studio, put it in front of a mic, and had fun interacting with Alexa — asking her questions and testing her limits with the help of GeekWire columnist Frank Catalano, who has been using the Echo for the past several weeks. (Next time we’ll bring in Siri and Cortana for a roundtable discussion.)

Echo remains an invite-only product, available for $99 to Amazon Prime members. As we reported earlier this week, the company seems to have opened the floodgates on Echo invites, but in many cases the device still won’t be delivered for a few months, so it remains elusive for many people.

The segments with Alexa start at 9:25 in the audio player above, following our weekly news roundup. Topics in the news segment this week include the huge news about SpaceX’s Seattle office, and Facebook’s plan to double the size of its Seattle engineering office.
