Is there anything Legos can’t do?

We already know they make awesome movie trailers, re-create iconic pop culture moments and can keep our inner-engineers busy for hours, but now they’re helping scientists safely handle and study insects.

The problem is that insects are delicate and easy to break while being handled. Researchers have built these cool contraptions out of Legos, which can move and rotate, to keep the insects still while they examine them under the microscope. Researchers love the Legos because they’re “cheap, customizable and easy to build,” according to ZooKeys.

Lego should really have a contest for other practical applications. The possibilities seem endless.
