htc-one-m8-windows-three sidedHTC, the Taiwan smartphone maker with U.S. headquarters in Bellevue, WA, stayed profitable in the last quarter of 2014, but just barely, showing a net profit of NT$0.5 billion (approximately US$15.8 million) on revenues of NT$47.9 billion (US$1.5 billion).

In financial results released this morning, HTC noted this was its third consecutive quarter of profits and that, “HTC’s smartphone brand families continued to consolidate market share in key markets.” Year-on-year revenue was reported to be up 12 percent.

HTC is in a kind of rebuilding phase, a “diversification strategy” it says it began in Q4. Among its new efforts: a collaboration with Under Armour for connected health and fitness-related devices, and the HTC RE point-of-view camera.
