Amazon’s early attempts at making epic video games have been underwhelming, but the company is gearing up for a new push — announcing in a job post that it’s “building a team of top talent for an ambitious new PC game project using the latest technology.”

According to the post, that technology includes Amazon Web Services and the Twitch game streaming service, acquired by the Seattle-based e-commerce giant last year.

“Join us, and you’ll have the power of Twitch, AWS, and the entire Amazon ecosystem to shape the future of games,” writes Amazon Game Studios in the sponsored job post on Gamasutra. “You will work alongside talented industry veterans, including key contributors from dozens of titles: Half Life 2, Left for Dead, Portal, Thief, System Shock 2, Age of Empires, Dawn Of War II, Halo, The Last of Us, Gears of War, Forza, and Bioshock.”

That lineup illustrates the deep pool of gaming talent in the Seattle region, with giants including Valve and Microsoft Xbox operating in Amazon’s backyard, in addition to a long list of startups and smaller game development studios.

Amazon Game Studios so far has focused on titles for smartphones, tablets and its Fire TV boxes, but as the job post notes, this would be the company’s first PC game.
