Redfin CTO Sasha Aickin has stepped down from his role as the Chief Technology Officer of Redfin. According to his LinkedIn profile, he plans to spend the next few months continuing to work for the company on a “really cool technical infrastructure project” before taking some time off work.
Bridget Frey, Redfin’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, will run all of Redfin’s engineering operations from its Seattle office. Jen Chao, the company’s Director of Engineering, will be in charge of its San Francisco office.
“Redfin is extremely grateful to Sasha for his vast contributions to Redfin, and his friendship,” a spokesperson for the company said in a statement emailed to GeekWire. “We will all miss him dearly. We also have the highest confidence in the team Sasha has built, now under the helm of his long-time colleague Bridget.”
Aickin, an 8-year veteran of Redfin, plans to take time after leaving the company to travel the world.
The news of Aickin’s departure comes at a pivotal time for Redfin, which just announced today that it raised $70.9 million in a massive funding round targeted at fueling its national expansion.
