tmobilesoccerHave you ever wondered what it’d be like if soccer followed similar rules to those found in the wireless industry?

No, you probably haven’t. But T-Mobile is having a little fun with the idea in its latest TV spot.

The ad, which features new T-Mobile spokeswoman Shakira, features a game-winning header that results in an unrealistic on-field World Cup celebration complete with fire-blowing men and Shakira singing her 2014 World Cup Song La La La.

But a referee spoils everything when he calls off the game-winner.

“Unlimited headers while abroad are not included in your contract,” he says.

A few seconds later, though, the ref is pulled away by a random guy and Shakira starts singing again.

“T-Mobile is changing the rules of the game,” the ad reads.

T-Mobile is set to announce a new “Uncarrier” initiative on June 18 and today moved its press event to Seattle. In the past, T-Mobile’s Uncarrier announcements have brought major changes that shook up the wireless industry. Earlier this year, the company announced at CES that it would offer to pay early termination fees for customers interested in switching from their existing wireless carrier.

Past Uncarrier announcements include an end to traditional contracts, a plan that would make it possible for users to upgrade their phones early, and the unlimited international texting/data feature.
