SlideShare — which is kind of like the YouTube of online presentations — has formed a new partnership with Seattle startup Haiku Deck.

As part of the deal, Haiku Deck’s online presentation creation tools will now be integrated into the SlideShare site, creating an easy way for SlideShare’s 70 million monthly visitors to create presentation decks.

Haiku Deck CEO Adam Tratt said the deal is a big one for his 13-person startup, possibly creating huge awareness for the product.

“It is phenomenal,” said Tratt. “Our target audience is the business user, and specifically business users that are trying to share ideas broadly, and so this gives us reach into many tens of million more users than we had yesterday, which is important for a company with no marketing budget.”

haikudeck444SlideShare contacted Haiku Deck last Spring about a deeper alliance, and Tratt quickly jumped on the opportunity. The companies already worked together through a deal in 2012 in which creators of Haiku Decks could upload their presentations to SlideShare.

SlideShare was acquired in 2012 by LinkedIn for $119 million, and Tratt said that the partnership will give it better hooks into the social networking powerhouse.

“Our goal at Haiku Deck is to make it 10 times easier for professionals to create decks that are 10 times more effective, in 1/10th the time,” said Adam Tratt, co-founder and CEO of Haiku Deck. “We’re thrilled to help SlideShare users express their ideas and share their expertise through beautiful presentations.”

Haiku Deck was selected this week as one of “The Seattle 10” — a list of 10 of the most promising up-and-coming startups in the Seattle region.

Haiku Deck, backed by Trilogy and Madrona, said earlier this year that it has recorded more than one million downloads of its app.
