The Angry Birds display on the Space Needle from March 2012

The Space Needle has already been the backdrop of an attack by Angry Birds.

Now, the Zombies are coming!

To celebrate the release of Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, PopCap Games is planning an “all-out attack” on Seattle’s iconic landmark on Thursday.

As part of the so-called “takeover,” a large Zombie message will be placed on the Needle. What will it say?

Guess we need to wait until Thursday.

PopCap, which is located just a few blocks away from the Space Needle, plans to offer helicopter tours to media to see the temporary message emblazoned on the structure.

In addition to the message, PopCap, which was purchased by EA for up to $1.3 billion in 2011, is planning to host zombie autograph sessions and photo opportunities.

Now, as you may recall, Angry Birds attempted to pull off an epic PR stunt at the Space Needle last year to celebrate the release of “Angry Birds Space.” GeekWire’s Todd Bishop eagerly covered the action live, and yet, nothing really happened.

Maybe this stunt, taking place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will have a bit more flair.

Plants vs. Zombies is one of PopCap’s best selling games of all time. In the new game, available for iOS, players continue their “epic struggle of plants defending your brainz against zombies.”
