Updated below with answer and winner.

Technology and music often go hand-in-hand, and this week’s Name that Tech Tune challenge is a prime example. It’s a snippet from a band led by a well-known person from the technology industry. Here’s the challenge: Can you name this person?

Up for grabs is a pair of tickets to GeekWire’s Battle of the Geek Bands, Oct. 25 at the Showbox Sodo, which is the closing celebration for our larger GeekWire Startup Day event.

Are you ready? Here’s the tune.

Whose band is that? If you think you know the answer, send it to contest@geekwire.com. From the pool of correct answers, we’ll pick one person at random to win a pair of tickets to the Battle of the Geek Bands.

Name that Tech Tune is a regular feature of the GeekWire radio show, which airs on KIRO Radio in Seattle (97.3 FM) at 7 p.m. every Saturday, except when pre-empted by live sports. The show runs every weekend on GeekWire.com.  Also search for the show on Stitcher.

For a slightly longer version of the song, including a pretty big clue, here’s the Name that Tech Tune segment from this week’s show.

Send your answer to contest@geekwire.com. Listen to the show next week or check back here for the answer and winner.

Update, Sept. 28: The answer is Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. It’s a track from his recent album, Everywhere at Once. Congrats to our winner, Darren Austin!
