There’s nothing like a rousing game of ping-pong — the official pastime of the tech industry — to lift a person’s spirits and get the energy flowing. Not to mention a big party. Which is why, as the Seattle region slogs through another dark winter, GeekWire is proud to announce the return of a Seattle tech tradition, at a new time of year. Think of it as a public service to the tech community.
It’s the GeekWire Ping-Pong & Anniversary Bash, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 at the Showbox SoDo in Seattle.
This is a big ping-pong and foosball tournament in the middle of an even bigger party, and if you’ve been before, you know how much fun it is. This is one of our all-time favorite events — attracting more than 100 competitors and hundreds more attendees for a giant celebration. Yes, it’s also our 2nd birthday, so we hope you’ll come celebrate with us.
General admission tickets are available here or below, at early bird rates. Group discounts are available for companies to send cheering sections to support their players, and we’ll once again be awarding a “spirit prize” to the team that flies their geek colors in the most creative and over-the-top display.
Not interested in ping-pong or foosball? No problem, because this is a party first and foremost. We’ll have great prizes, activities, special guests, good times and lots of food and drink. The very popular beer pong table and photo booth also will be making a return!
The GeekWire Bash is a unique setting to connect with hundreds of key members of the Seattle tech community. Find your next great tech job, employee, customer, business lead, startup partner — heck, who knows, maybe even your future husband or wife.
Attention competitors: Register here or below for the expert and intermediate ping-pong tournaments, and the foosball tournament, before they fill up. Foosball competitors should sign up in teams of two. Deadline is Feb. 25, and the tournament entry fee includes full access to the event.
Anyone can sign up to compete, and we’re encouraging companies from throughout the Seattle region and beyond to send players to compete for a piece of the glory on behalf of their companies.
More details on ping-pong and foosball tournament are available in this FAQ, and we’ll have much more on the tournaments as the brackets come together over the course of the next month.
Important note: GeekWire Gold and Super Pass Members are automatically signed up for this and all other GeekWire events in 2013 — no need to register separately. For more information and to purchase an annual pass, see our membership page.
