Owners of professional sports teams are generally pretty well off, but Paul Allen takes the cake for the most wealthy of them all.
There are 34 team owners that made most recent Forbes’ 400 Richest American list, and Allen leads the way with a $15.2 billion net worth.
The Microsoft co-founder owns the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and the MLS’s Seattle Sounders. All three teams are looking good right now, but none are as hot as the Super Bowl favorite Seahawks and their extremely loud fans.
In terms of the richest involved with sports, Allen trails Nike co-founder Phil Knight by $500 million.
Off the field, Allen is staying busy by selling abstract art, making music, launching rockets into space and most recently heading up the new Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Seattle.
