Amazon.com is looking to make it easier for Android app developers to earn advertising dollars with the release today of the new Amazon Mobile Ads API.

It should not come as a surprise. Amazon has been pushing heavily into online advertising in recent months, and with the new program the company says that it offers a “great monetization opportunity with competitive eCPM” and “distribution at scale through Amazon and other Android platforms.”

The company plans to include both ads from Amazon and other advertisers, including click-through banners. The API works with mobile apps on Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD and Android phones and tablets

“The Amazon Mobile Ad Network can help you better monetize your apps and gain exclusive access to highly relevant ads from brand advertisers, including Amazon and its subsidiaries,” the company writes in a FAQ.
