The carpet wasn’t quite red and we weren’t in Hollywood, but it sure was fun doing our own Joan and Melissa impressions at the second annual Geekwire Gala at Seattle’s McCaw Hall.

We were thrilled to be joined by more than 800 of you, many of which came dressed both swanky and sexy. My colleague Joan Rivers Emily Shahan and I thoroughly enjoyed learning how and why our awesome guests came looking like elves, blue bears and secret agents.

But we didn’t stop with the fashion inquiries and it was interesting to hear what predictions some of Seattle’s top talent made about the next big tech trend. The answers ranged from Jordan Weisman’s idea for interactive electric stitching in clothing to Christina Lomasney’s thoughts on revolutionizing the manufacturing industry to KIRO TV anchor Jenni Hogan’s prediction for technology that makes you feel stylish.

Thanks to everyone who attended this one-of-a-kind event and a big thanks to our sponsors for making the GeekWire Gala possible: FilterMicrosoft Outlook.comMailChimpKnollFlinn FergusonMicrosoft User ResearchSide CarSprig HealthSplunk,  Weber ShandwickPaperGMcAdams Wright RagenDeloitte Digital,  SEOmoz, and Vittana.

At the Gala, we recognized our Newsmakers of the Year for 2012 and, with your help, raised more than $32,000 for Seattle nonprofit Vittana in their fight against youth poverty.
