Get your best galloping dance moves on, because GifBoom is going Gangnam.

Seattle startup GifBoom is putting on a contest with Psy, the international K-Pop star who has quickly risen to global fame with his ridiculous dance moves and catchy song, “Gangnam Style.”

GifBoom is an Instragram-like mobile app for creating animated GIFs, those short choppy photo loops that are popular online. The contest asks users to put together their best impression of Psy’s now-famous gallop dance move for a first prize of $5,000.

The grand prize winner will be picked from the 50 GIFs with the most likes. Psy will give input for two other $500 awards called “Psy’s Favorite Winners.”

This should result in a nice little user spike for GifBoom and CEO Tao Huang. The ex-Microsoftie founded the company last year and previously worked on a startup called UrbanQ with Alike CEO Maria Zhang, who is our newest Geek of the Week.

We’ve embedded the video below if you need to watch for practice. The numbers are astonishing — over 390 million views and 3.5 million likes, which is by far the most-ever for a YouTube video.

So get out there and start Gangnam-Styling it. Happy galloping.
