Trending: Amazon and Seattle’s NBA dreams: Steve Ballmer on the city’s prospects for bringing back the Sonics

It’s national Pi Day, which means geeks and math nerds everywhere are celebrating the beauty of the mathematical constant of 3.14. Over at — a Seattle company known for its number crunching — employees gathered today to celebrate with what else … a pie eating contest.

Three contestants gobbled up banana cream, coconut cream and apple pies, with Jason Gasbarra taking home the top prize. He ate four mini pies from Fremont’s Sweet and Savory Bakery in Fremont. We didn’t hear how fast he gobbled them up, but based on the photos it looked like a serious competition.

Second place went to Daniel Stockman and third place went to Kalviny Man. Here’s a list from the Seattle P-I of other Pi Day activities.

Let us know if you are doing anything particularly geeky for Pi Day, and maybe we’ll feature it on GeekWire.
