What if your startup could get almost real-time feedback and exposure to be the next unicorn?

Launching.io wants to be the go-to online forum for startups. Based in Chicago, which has recently been noted as a hotbed for startups especially for women, it’s basically like Product Hunt, only for startups.

“Founders and influencers submit new startups every day, and the community votes up the most promising ones,” they write on the site. “It’s an easy way for early adopters to uncover the next breakout startup unicorns and a simple approach for startups to attract their first visitors.”

To launch the site, the founders asked startups to share advice, which they’ve accumulated into this handy blog post “116 Insights Startup Founders Wish They Knew Before They Launched.”

The top three themes that emerged from the thousands of comments they received? Working out the non-technical details first (find an advisor and choose your co-founders carefully); know your market and make sure your audience is there; and persistence and patience — startups take a long time to develop.

It looks like Launching.io has potential to be a fine resource for advice, tips and a way to connect with fellow startups. Also, for funders looking to invest in that next great unicorn.
