Iraleighncf you want a job that you like and pay reasonable living costs, move to Raleigh.

At least, that’s what Glassdoor thinks. The company today published its latest “Top 25 Best Cities for Jobs” list, and the North Carolina capital came out on top.

The rankings are based on hiring opportunity, cost of living, and job satisfaction. The top 50 most populated U.S. metros were considered.

Raleigh has 24,146 job openings; the median base salary is $50,950; and the median home value is $198,400. This past July, the city also ranked No. 1 on Forbes’ list of the “Best Places for Business and Careers.”

Kansas City, Mo. was 2nd; Oklahoma City, Okla. was 3rd; Austin, Texas was 4th.

Seattle finished No. 5 with 69,423 job openings, a $70,000 median base salary, and a $344,700 median home value. It ranked well for hiring opportunity and job satisfaction living, but was No. 33 for cost of living.

Glassdoor, co-founded by former Zillow and Expedia CEO Rich Barton, announced $70 million in fresh funding earlier this year in a round led by Google Capital and Tiger Global, bringing total capital raised in the Mill Valley, Calf.-based company to $160 million. Glassdoor also compiles other career-related lists, like “Highest-Rated CEOs,” and “Highest-Paying Jobs in Demand.”

Hiring opportunity is determined by the ratio of active job openings to population. (Job openings per metro represent active job listings on Glassdoor as of 4/30/15. Population data is according to the U.S. Office of Management & Budget).

Cost of living is determined by the ratio of median annual base salary to median metro home value. (Median annual base salary per metro based on at least 1,100 salary reports shared by local employees on Glassdoor over the past year (4/28/14-4/27/15). Median home value is according to the Zillow Home Value Index for All Homes, as of March 2015).

Job satisfaction ratings per metro is based on at least 1,000 company reviews shared by local employees on Glassdoor over the past year (4/28/14-4/27/15; Ratings based on a 5-point scale: 5.0=very satisfied, 1.0=very dissatisfied).
