Alexa is suddenly sports-savvy.
Amazon Echo, the company’s voice-activated, voice-response intelligent speaker, now provides sports scores and schedules from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, NCAA, and more.
Echo owners can simply ask, “Alexa, what’s the score of the [insert team name] game?” or, “Alexa, when does [insert team] play?” and the virtual assistant will answer promptly.
Amazon has been adding other new features to Echo over the past few months, including real-time traffic information, Pandora functionality, and support for smart home devices. Amazon also announced a third-party SDK for developing Echo apps in February.
Amazon Echo is still available only by invitation, at a price of $199 that’s discounted to $149 for Amazon Prime members.
