Here’s something that coffee-crazed and tech-mad Seattleites will certainly love. Starbucks is launching a new partnership with Twitter called Tweet-a-Coffee which allows customers of the coffee store chain to buy $5 gift cards for friends on Twitter.
Users must connect their Starbucks and Twitter accounts, and then add their credit card information to the account. At that point, users simply Tweet @tweetacoffee and add the Twitter handle of the person they want to receive the gift certificate. The first 100,000 people who sign up for the program receive a $5 eGift card. The beta program is only available in the U.S.
This is just the latest in the efforts by companies to bring social media and e-commerce closer together, something that Portland’s Chirpify is attempting to enable.
So, what do you think? Ready for this high-tech jolt of Monday morning coffee?
