Seattle venture capitalist Nick Hanauer is leading a $1 million financing round in a stealthy startup company that’s tentatively operating under the name of BeLeave.

Not much is known about the company, and the founders are keeping pretty mum for now.

“At this time, we are not sharing what we are going to do,” said co-founder Kieran McDermott, a sales veteran of CareerBuilder.com who most recently served as the point person in the Seattle market. He’s joined on the founding team by Lance Anderson, a co-founder of social news site Newsvine, which sold to MSNBC.com in 2007.

Hanauer’s venture capital firm, Second Avenue Partners, was an early investor in Newsvine.

There’s no Web site set up yet for BeLeave, and McDermott said that it may be three to nine months before they launch the concept.

Given the backgrounds of McDermott and Anderson, I wondered whether the entrepreneurial duo may be creating something in the online media space. Again, McDermott, who attended South Kitsap High School, wouldn’t touch that one.

“The funding just came together, and we are putting the team together,” he said.
