Teresa Carlson, President and Chief Commercial Officer, Flexport

Teresa Carlson, a longtime tech executive who was most recently a corporate vice president at Microsoft, joined Flexport as its new president and chief commercial officer.

Carlson spent the past eight months at Microsoft as a CVP and executive-in-residence; she previously was a vice president at the company from 2001 to 2010. Carlson also spent more than a decade at Amazon Web Services, and joined Splunk in 2021 as president and chief growth officer. She sits on the boards of Seattle startup Karat and Bay Area company Commure.

Carlson will oversee sales, marketing, communications, and non-profit efforts at Flexport, the San Francisco-based logistics giant which was valued at $8 billion after raising a $935 million Series E round in February of last year. Founded in 2013, Flexport provides cloud-based freight forwarding and brokerage services for ocean, air, truck, and rail, among other offerings such as insurance and customs compliance.

Carlson will report to Flexport CEO Dave Clark, the former longtime Amazon exec who joined Flexport last year. She will be based at Flexport’s office in Miami and split time between Florida and Washington D.C.
