— Fastly named Margaret Arakawa as chief marketing officer of the publicly traded San Francisco-based cloud network provider. Arakawa spent nearly 20 years at Microsoft before joining Seattle sales startup Outreach in July 2019. She departed Outreach last year.

“Fastly is an incredible company with a noble vision: To help create a world where all digital experiences are fast, engaging, and safe for everyone. Where good thrives and we improve people’s lives,” Arakawa wrote on LinkedIn.

Steve Eichenlaub joined the Portland Seed Fund as a general partner. An Intel veteran, Eichenlaub was previously managing director of Intel Capital and senior director of strategic growth for Intel Labs.

Founded in 2011, Portland Seed Fund closed its third fund in 2019 and has invested in more than 100 seed-stage companies in the Pacific Northwest with a particular focus on Oregon.

— Former Tableau Software executive Mark Jewett has joined San Francisco-based startup SmartRecruiters as chief marketing officer. Jewett was previously senior vice president of product and partner marketing at Salesforce-owned Tableau, and also spent more than 15 years at Microsoft in various marketing and strategy roles.

“With CEOs more focused than ever on the talent gap they face every day, our mission to connect people to jobs at scale and helping promote Hiring Success has never been more relevant,” Jewett said in a statement.

— Joshua Burgin, who spent more than seven years with Amazon Web Services, is departing the cloud giant. Burgin first joined Amazon as an engineer in 1997, and worked at Fred Hutch, QL2 Software, RPI, and Zynga before returning to Amazon in 2014. He was most recently general manager for AWS Outposts.

Burgin said he’ll reveal his next move soon. “Starting my career in the 90s with a 3-year stint at a tiny “internet bookstore” named Amazon.com, I never could have imagined we’d end up in the cloud. Each of you have made my second time around here incredibly special, and I will miss working together,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

Gene Hall, a 20-year veteran of Cisco, joined Portland, Ore.-based Puppet as chief marketing officer. He was most recently CMO and VP of security marketing for Cisco.

A cloud infrastructure automation company, Puppet has 500 employees and seven offices around the world.

Former Puppet CMO Erik Frieberg is now at Cambridge, Mass.-based Solo.io.

Marc Monday joined British software company Sage as VP of global strategic partnerships. A Microsoft alum, Monday was previously an executive at SAP Concur, Cisco and Citrix.

— Amazon and Microsoft veteran Abhi Mishra is now chief technology officer at Human Interest, a San Francisco-based 401(k) provider. He was most recently developing personalized shopping experiences for Amazon.

— Pushpay, which makes digital tools for faith-based and non-profit organizations, promoted Maria Telles to vice president of human resources. She is based in Auckland, New Zealand, where the Redmond, Wash.-based company has a second office.

Telles joined Pushpay in 2019 as a human resources director. She previously worked at media analytics company Nielsen.

— Tenta Browser co-founder Jennifer McEwen is now director of product marketing at Avast following the Seattle startup’s acquisition.

McEwen helped launch Tenta Browser, an encrypted browsing service, in 2016 and was featured in GeekWire’s Startup Spotlight in 2019.
