The news: Seattle mobile remittance company Remitly has acquired intellectual property from Jargon, a Seattle startup that developed an enterprise platform for chat and voice services.

Jargon co-founders Milkana Brace and Jonathan Burstein will join Remitly, along with three other Jargon staffers. Remitly will use Jargon’s tech to improve customer experiences.

Jargon launched in 2017 as an on-demand interpretation service but later pivoted. It landed investment from Amazon’s Alexa Fund and participated in the Alexa Accelerator. Jargon will wind down its operations as a result of the deal.

Remitly, which lets people send and receive money across borders, this week announced an investment from Visa and is reportedly preparing to go public.
