It has been one year since Washington state locked down with the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the U.S. And now here we are 12 months later with businesses shuttered, schools closed and everyday societal norms disrupted.

From housing to education to rebooting the economy to social justice, we face a daunting number of public policy challenges.

To help make sense of where we go from here, GeekWire is excited to kick off a new virtual event series called Civic Conversations, presented by Microsoft.

Our first discussion — titled Tackling Public Policy Challenges During a Covid Economy — will take place at noon (PT) on March 25. Registration is free, but space is limited. Go here to register.

We’ll be joined by three amazing panelists who are playing different roles at the forefront of Washington state’s rebound:

It’s going to take every ounce of our community’s strength and will to rebound from the historical events of the past 12 months, and we hope this event will shed light on some of the approaches the region can take to get back on our feet.

The discussion will be moderated by GeekWire contributing editor Monica Nickelsburg.

Register here, and make sure to submit a question for panel.
