New Microsoft devices: The tech giant unveiled several new products Tuesday, including the Surface Laptop 4, the company’s “most powerful laptop.”

Surface Laptop 4The device retains much of the traditional Surface Laptop look and design, with improved performance and battery life. Users have the option of picking between an AMD or Intel processor. There is a 13.5-inch and 15-inch model. The AMD version will start at $999; the Intel model at $1,299. The Surface Laptop 4 is available for pre-order today in the U.S., Canada, and Japan. Shipping starts April 15.

The Surface Headphones 2+ feature a new button to control Microsoft Teams.

Surface Headphones 2+ and other devices: The latest version of Microsoft’s over-the-ear headphones feature on-ear controls for Microsoft Teams. It retails at $299.99 for business and education customers. Microsoft also has two new headsets — a Modern Wireless Headset (no price yet) and Modern USB Headset ($49.99) — with similar buttons for Microsoft Teams, and a new USB-C speaker for $99.99. Finally, there’s the new Microsoft Modern Webcam with a Teams button at $69.99.

Hybrid work: Microsoft is pitching the new products as “built to enable inclusive hybrid work environments.” The company itself is shifting to a hybrid work model for its workforce. The PC market had its best Q1 since 2015 as the pandemic continues to drives the work-from-home lifestyle. Microsoft’s Surface business revenue grew modestly in the December quarter to a little more than $2 billion. Microsoft said there were 115 million daily active users on Teams as of October, up 50% from April 2020.
