Seattle-based Vera Whole Health appointed Karen Cooke as chief operating officer. Cooke was most recently vice president of strategic execution and transformation at Sound Physicians. She previously held health-focused roles with Veteran Affairs and the U.S. Army.

“Karen’s experience building a multi-site, billion-dollar national care organization will drive growth for Vera and improve health outcomes for more clients and their members,” said Vera Whole Health President & CEO Ryan Schmid.

Founded in 2008, Vera Whole Health operates 26 clinics with its “advanced primary care” model. The company raised $10 million earlier this year and plans to extend its model across the country.

Ryan Roslansky took the reins as CEO of LinkedIn yesterday from Jeff Weiner, who is now executive chairman. Roslansky has been at Microsoft-owned LinkedIn since 2009 and was most recently SVP of products and user experience. He previously held product roles at Glam Media and Yahoo. He kicked his tenure off by sharing his thoughts from “Day 1” in an article on LinkedIn.

Former Microsoft AI and Bing executive Harry Shum is now chairman of the board of Mountain View, Calif.-based startup News Break, best known for its popular local news apps. Shum left his day-to-day role at Microsoft in February after 23 years. Read the story.

F5 Networks promoted Tom Fountain to EVP of global services and chief strategy officer reporting directly to CEO François Locoh-Donou. Fountain joined the Seattle-based company in 2018 and is based out of F5’s San Jose, Calif. office.

Fountain previously held executive leadership roles at McAfee, Intel and Juniper Networks. Last month, F5 Networks beat earnings expectations and pledged it won’t make layoffs during its current fiscal year.

Consumer data platform Amperity hired Barry Padgett as COO and president of field operations. Padgett was most recently chief revenue officer at Stripe and an executive at Concur and SAP. He currently serves on the board of San Francisco Bay Area companies Freshworks and Duetto. Amperity raised $50 million last year to grow its marketing tech platform.

Seattle, Wash.-based biopharmaceutical company Neoleukin Therapeutics appointed Erin Lavelle to its board of directors. Lavelle was most recently COO of Alder BioPharmaceuticals. She spent 15 years in leadership roles at Amgen including positions based in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

A University of Washington spinout, Neoleukin Therapeutics was purchased by Vancouver, B.C.-based Aquinox Pharmaceuticals last year. The companies merged under Neoleukin’s name; the company trades under the ticker NLTX on Nasdaq.

MicroVision, the Redmond, Wash.-based maker of miniature projection display technology, announced that Perry Mulligan resigned from the board of directors. Mulligan stepped down as CEO in February, succeeded by Sumit Sharma. Mulligan joined the board in 2010 and was appointed CEO in 2017.

Sharma joined MicroVision in 2015 and was most recently the company’s chief operating officer. He previously held operations roles at Jawbone, Motorola and Google as part of Project GLASS.

“With a successful transition completed, I remain confident in the potential for the company. In light of my recent health issues, I believe that this is the right time for me to retire from the board and focus on my recovery and my family,” said Mulligan.

Mulligan previously served as SVP of operations at network infrastructure companies Emulex and QLogic and was chief product officer at electronics manufacturer Solectron.

Kirkland, Wash.-based digital health solutions startup 2Morrow named co-founder Jo Masterson its new CEO and chair of the board. Masterson previously served as 2Morrow’s COO and chief product officer. She started her career as an RN and previously held marketing roles.

“I am incredibly proud of 2Morrow’s role in bringing evidence-based digital health to the wellness industry,” Masterson said. “2Morrow is now taking everything we’ve learned about delivering effective behavioral therapies digitally and applying it to healthcare, especially in treating chronic diseases and conditions.”

Former Amazon Web Services (AWS) executive Mark Francis joined Electronic Caregiver as its chief digital health integration officer. The Las Cruces, N.M.-based company offers virtual and remote care solutions.

“The changing face of health care coupled with the demands on caregivers due to the aging population and increased longevity confirms the time is now for transformative solutions to support health, aging and caregiving” said Francis.

At AWS, Francis was the global head of product marketing for robotics and spatial computing. He was previously a general manager at Intel’s new venture incubator.

Seattle-based ABC Legal named Sascha Mehlhase as vice president of product and innovation. ABC Legal files and serves legal documents for clients through its software and process servers.

Mehlhase was most recently senior director of product management at telecommunications company Intrado, formerly West Corporation, which acquired Seattle startup Flowroute. He was also a director of product management at Motorola’s software division.
